RULES,REGULATIONS & REQUIREMENTS FOR PARTICIPANTS TAKING THEIR DAN GRADES
 
1 - Minimum training, achievement time:
1st Dan = 3 years + 12 Months from achieving 1st Kyu (Brown Belt)
2nd Dan = 2 years since achieving 1st Dan
3rd Dan = 3 years since achieving 2nd Dan
4th Dan = 4 years since achieving 3rd Dan
5th Dan = 5 years since achieving 4th Dan
6th Dan = 6 years since achieving 5th Dan 

Delegate Requirements:

1 - Delegates must bring their own sparring & protective equipment.
2 - Delegates  must wear the full protective equipment including
      headguards while sparring.
3 - WKO Syllabus will be graded on 'controlled' sparring.
4 - Delegates  must be dressed in their clean & ironed club uniform.
5 - Only Martial Arts clothing is acceptable, attire may influence your grading marks.
6 -  Delegates will be assessed prescribed techniques, through line work, padwork,       
       bag work, defence application, shadow boxing & sparring.
7 - Delegates will have to perform the WKO Dan Grade Kata.
8 - No spectators are permitted during grading.
9 - The grading results Pass or Fail will be awarded at the end of the Grading.
10 - Delegates who have passed will be awarded their Black Belts & Certificates.
11 - Delegates who have failed will be notified with constructive development points
12 - Delegates who have failed will be permitted to attend the next grading FREE of 
       charge to show how they have implemented the development points given.
13 - All delegates must hold a valid WKO Licence, if you need to apply for a WKO licence 
        these can be purchased through the WKO Online Store when booking your WKO 
        International Dan Grading.
14 - As this is an International Dan Grading delegates are welcome from around the
        world, but must be able to communicate in English.
15 - All delegates will be assessed through the WKO Grading Syllabus which all must
       learn, assessing all to the same standards is the only way to achieve
       standardisation of the syllabus. 
 
The WKO Grading Syllabus is free to download for all to learn the criteria. All being assessed at the above Dan Grades should already know most if not all of what is the current and prescribed techniques from 8th Kyu to 1st Dan.

Delegates requiring Embroidered Black belts can request these when booking. There is an additional charge for embroidered belts which is also listed when requesting them.
